The weather is starting to cool and the greens that make the summer beautiful are preparing to evolve into the beautiful orange and reds, fall is almost here. As summer turns into fall and you are looking to enjoy a crisp morning adventure with the family, there is no better way to spend a day than going apple picking. With 12 different farms and over 26 different varieties of apples grown in North Central Massachusetts alone there is a new farm, a new adventure and a new flavor for everyone in the family.
While you are planning your day trip to one of the amazing farms across Massachusetts for a PYO adventure make sure to check out one, or all, of these great events happening in North Central Massachusetts!

7th Annual Appleseed Country Fair at Red Apple Farm. Happening over Labor Day weekend, September 1st – September 3rd, this fair combines old fashioned country fun with three days of live music and over 50 artisans, crafters, food, craft beer and wine from all over North Central Massachusetts. Pick your own apples in the orchard and end up at the music tent or the Brew Barn for some live entertainment that the whole family can enjoy.
Apples Apples Apples at Tower Hill Botanica Garden. Happening on October 13th, the shape, flavor and fragrance of apples play starring roles in fall and winter celebrations. Discuss apple history and traditions, learn to use apples decoratively for the holidays and enjoy an apple tasting with Betsy Williams, who teaches, lectures and writes about living with herbs and flowers.
35th Annual Applefest at Wachusett Mountain. This great festival on October 13th-14th is Wachusett’s most popular fall festival, AppleFest features over 100 craft fair and farmers’ market booths, family entertainment, Scenic Foliage Skyrides to the Summit, mountainside barbecue, pony rides, clowns, a climbing wall, and jugglers & magicians for the Kids. Applefest also features live music, the Giant Pumpkin Weigh-off, Apple Pie Baking and Eating Contests, along with additional family entertainment.
